The New Funky was founded in 2020, in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) by Mick Verweij. He loves to bother his environment with his passion for music that has gotten out of hand. He does this in his own hometown through 'Podium 8' and 'Jazzstad Nijmegen' and as a (co) programmer for various festivals. When he manages to get someone excited about an artist or music style he loves, there is nothing that can beat that!
Mick has been collecting the finest records on vinyl for years and since his student days also on Spotify. He now has a number of popular playlists on Spotify, including 'Funky Jazz, Blues & Soul' with over 50K followers.

Tim keeps a close eye on the funk scene when he's not working on his guitar funkadelica for The Funkstamatics; one of the hardest rockin’ jazzed-up funk groups in The Netherlands. From down and dirty hammond jams to tight grooves with a Minneapolis flavour. Oomph!
